Hi, I’m Jess
The funny thing about a bio is that my instinct is to use titles that have defined me across my career – national magazine editor, content marketing writer, managing editor – but I have recently quit my senior media job to travel the world. So, for now, I’m simply a traveller.
I’m a planner with my personality a cross between Leslie Knope and Amy Santiago, including the love of waffles and organisation. I believe the best way to plan trips is to go by recommendations. Someone you know stayed at this accommodation – booked, a friend of a friend raved about this restaurant – let’s go there, someone you follow on Instagram loved visiting this city – add to the list.
that travel feeling will be that person for you to take the stress and time out of trip planning and give you real attainable ideas for your travels.
So how do you know if this blog is for you?
- You enjoy slow travel – not trying to fit everything into two days but spending time wandering, exploring and pretending you live there. A day visiting a market, walking through a park or window shopping isn’t a waste to you
- You like to avoid crowds – if the idea of being surrounded by hundreds of tourists fighting for a photo opportunity sounds like a nightmare
- You love being in nature – hiking mountains, walking through forests and lying on the beach are non-negotiables in your dream itinerary
- You can’t wing it – the idea of only booking a plane ticket and figuring the rest out when you arrive gives you anxiety. You’d rather be drinking cocktails at golden hour than worrying about where you’re going to stay that night
- You don’t do budget, but aren’t luxury travellers – You’re past the point of staying in a dorm of ten people, but also don’t want to use all of your savings on fancy hotels, you’re searching for that perfect balance
This is how I travel so join me as we travel slow and live as locals, while ticking off those bucket list items. Expect to see mountains, small towns, hiking, sunsets and rooftop cocktails. I’m just trying to chase as many of the small moments as possible.
